Leave the M6 at junction 36 and follow the signs for Kendal, Windermere and South Lakes.  Follow the main road to Windermere and Ambleside.  Before Ambleside at the traffic lights by the Waterhead Hotel bear left following the lake shore past Wateredge Inn.  Follow the road and bear left at the sign for Hawkshead and Coniston, bear left again over the bridge.  Follow the road for ¼ mile and bear left at Clappersgate and follow the sign for Hawkshead over narrow bridge.  When arriving at Hawkshead don't turn into the village, carry on to the T-Junction with the car park on your right.  Turn right at the junction and follow the signs for Forest Park Centre and Theatre in the Forest.  Then follow the road around past the school, white cottages and coal yard and take your next right.  Follow this road up for 2 miles, we are on the right hand side overlooking the forest.
